BASES - Forging the Next Generation of Stanford Founders

Our philosophy

Since the days of Frederick Terman and Hewlett-Packard, Stanford has been synonomous with Silicon Valley. From Google to Nvidia, we've produced some of the largest venture outcomes in world, in the process becomming a hub for innovation.

Yet this success has attracted those who pursue startups for wealth and status, not because they want to change the world. This has diluted entreprenuership, and the ensuing theatrics have repelled those who treat the lever of building a business with reverence.

We are here to fix this. How?

In short, we must get back to the fundamentals. Our time needs to be spent learning from history's greatest founders, both in literature and in the flesh, engaging in constant conversation about our work, our ideas, and how great businesses were built from nothing. Innovation needs to once again be in the life-blood of the school, where as of now, Startup Theatre has left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
