Dr. Richard H. Scheller, Ph.D. serves as an Executive Vice President of Research & Early Development at Genentech, Inc.
Dr. Scheller received his first academic appointment to Stanford University in 1982. He served as a Professor of Molecular and Cellular Physiology since 1993 and as an investigator in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since 1994. Dr. Scheller served as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board of Intra-Cellular Therapies, Inc. and Rinat Neuroscience Corporation. He serves as a Member of the Medical and Scientific Review Board of Renovis Inc. He has served on numerous advisory boards including the National Advisory Mental Health Council of the National Institutes of Health. He is a Member of Executive Committee at Roche Holding AG. He has published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. His work has earned him numerous awards including the 1997 National Academy of Sciences Award in Molecular Biology. He is a member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Scheller holds a Doctorate in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology where he was also a Postdoctoral Fellow, Division of Biology. He was also a Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
